week three

Already into week three which seems crazy. Time is literally flying by so quickly. Anyways for this week it is the final week to work on Soundbrenner's 3Y Birthday promotion. Apart from doing the website, I need to design a mobile and tablet version, email banners, social media posts and work on the brand guidelines. So with a lot to do I am starting to feel the pressure building. I don't want to screw up or produce terrible designs so this week I need to put my head down and get through it. Working slightly longer days than usual and speaking to various people in the office to make my designs possible, I am starting to see the final product. I always get nervous when showing my designs to the marketing team as I think what if they don't like this or why is she here designing for us. But I know when these thoughts enter my head I just need to back myself and go in with an open mind. There is always going to be criticism and things to improve on but this is what I need if I want to become a successful designer. As the days roll by and my designs keep getting defined, finally everyone one is happy. Hearing, 'great job Frankie, send them to Will'(coder) was the absolute cherry on top of this working week. I had done it. The first time my designs had been used in an actual real world environment! As Friday came I was absolutely shattered and planning on having an early night when I got asked, " Wanna come to an art gallery opening?" Hmmm what to do? Art gallery opening where I could meet other creative people and see amazing art or sleep..... Considering my extreme fragile state and a little voice in my head screaming 'SLEEP,' I decided screw it I'm going, I am not going to get this opportunity again. With the air suffocatingly hot, even though the sun had disappeared for another day, James and myself sipped on what is called 'gin in a tin' (absolute game changer) whilst battling the climb to the gallery. Feeling rather sticky on arrival we entered the space where we were told to lay on the floor and stare at various colours above. As the experience began an old man started to hit drums, create various bizarre noises whilst the colours changed above, overall creating a psychedelic experience. With not quite knowing what I had just experienced, the night continued on with drawing and drinks on rooftops, to a 60s-80s party at an abandoned prison. 6pm tired and fragile Frankie would not have thought I would have lasted this long but she was wrong! I got to meet so many cool creative people all excelling in their chosen fields whilst seeing apart of Hong Kong you couldn't see as a tourist. With the night still young I said goodbye to James and his friends to catch the last MTR home at 1am.

The rest of my weekend consisted of venturing through the markets yet again but this time seeing both Ladies and Temple Street market. With my battering improving I was able to pick up some good deals yet make my wallet slightly lighter.

With week three done I am starting to get into the groove of Hong Kong. From going to work each day to exploring Hong Kong in the weekend feels normal now. It has finally sunk in that I here living and working and if I am being completely honest I would say I am living the dream. Who would have thought university could supply such a incredible opportunity?!?
